Churches should review and update Church By-Laws and/or Constitutions every three-five years.

Churches should amend their Church By-Laws/Constitutions to
reflect current church structure and operations.
Churches are not exempt from paying payroll taxes (federal and state).
Churches must deposit the taxes they withhold.
All employers are responsible for verifying the identity and eligibility of employees to work in the U.S. using Form I-9.
Pastors are always self-employed for Social Security purposes with respect to their ministerial services.
Under no circumstances can the church designate a housing allowance retroactively.
Know the difference between a "contractor" and an "employee" for IRS purposes.
