Did You Know?
- Churches should review and update Church By-Laws and/or
Constitutions every three-five years.

- Churches should amend their Church By-Laws/Constitutions to
reflect current church structure and operations.
- Churches are not exempt from paying payroll taxes (federal and state).
- Churches must deposit the taxes they withhold.
- All employers are responsible for verifying the identity and eligibility of employees to work in the U.S. using Form I-9.
- Pastors are always self-employed for Social Security purposes with respect to their ministerial services.
- Under no circumstances can the church designate a housing allowance retroactively.
- Know the difference between a "contractor" and an "employee" for IRS purposes.
